Biloxi Blues is the second in Neil Simon's semi-autobiographical "Eugene Trilogy" and the winner of the 1985 Tony Award for Best Play (non-musical). In this sequel to Brighton Beach Memoirs which saw Eugene Jerome coping with adolescence in 1930s Brooklyn, Eugene is now a young Army recruit training in Biloxi, Mississippi, in the later years of World War II. In the midst of conflicts between the hard-drinking and aggressive Sergeant Toomey and the outspoken and headstrong recruits, Eugene matures into adulthood and learns some harsh lessons about life, love, and the world outside his hometown.
